Sopaipillas
Description

Tandy's mom used to call these "sofa pillows". These delicious puffs of fried bread are usually served with butter and/or honey. The Los Chileros mix makes them easy to prepare.

  • 1 pkg. Los Chileros Sopaipilla Mix
Methods/steps

For 6 to 8 people, mix entire contents (12oz.) of package with approximately 6 oz. warm water. Water should be added slowly to achieve a smooth dry dough. Cover and let stand 10 to 15 minutes. Roll out on a lightly floured board, as thin as possible (1/8 inch). Cut into 4 inch squares and fry in HOT vegetable oil until golden brown on both sides, turning once.

NOTE: Temperature of oil is key factor. Test oil with a small cut of dough. Within 4 to 5 seconds dough should sizzle and puff up and be ready to turn. Serve with honey and enjoy.

La mama de Tany solia llamarlas "almohaditas". Este delicioso pan frito se sirve con mantequilla o miel. La mezcla de los Chileros es la manera mas facil de prepararlas.

Para 6 u 8 personas. Mezcle todo el contenido del paquete con 6oz. de agua tibia, combinelo poco a poco hasta formar una masa. Tapelo y espere de 10 a 15 minutos. Divida la masa en pequeñas bolas y extiendalas lo mas delgadamente posible cerca de 1/8 de pulgada. Cortelas en pequeños cuadritos y firalos en aceite vegetal muy caliente hasta que esten de un color dorado. volteelos una vez.

NOTA: La temperatura del aceite es un factor muy importante. Dentro de 4 a 5 segundos empezaran a esponjarse y estaran listos para voltear. Sirva con miel y disfrutelas.
